Rajans cruise to comfortable win over St. Anthony’s

It wasn’t ‘one small step’ but a gigantic leap for Dharmaraja College, Kandy as their team dished out a fascinating 48 points (six goals, two penalties) to 26 (3 goals, 1 try) win over a fighting Antonian outfit at Bogambara yesterday.  With this win the Rajans seem to be well on course to an historic first ever league championship, coming on top of their B Division triumph last season.

In 2011 School League Division A, Rajans played 11, won 3, lost 8 and relegated to Division B

In 2012 School League Division B, remained unbeaten through the season and won the Championship. Also, won Inter-School Rugby 7s. And got promoted to the elite group Division A again.

RAJANS BEAT PETERITES 24-17

Dharmaraja bravely withstood  a final determined effort by Peterites, who camped in Rajan territory for almost the entirety of the second half, who despite their desparate drive couldn’t find the way through to the goal line.Having led 17-12 at lemons, the Rajans came through 24-17 after having repulsed wave upon wave of attacks. The winners obtained their points through three goals and a penalty as opposed to two tries and a goal.

The Rajans did the expected by defeating rivals Kingswood by 33 points (3 goals, 4 penalties) to 24 (2 goals, 2 tries), in an entertaining game of rugby at Bogambara, on Friday.At the break, the winners led 21-12.
