An Old Rajan, one of the 7 Jayasundara Brothers of Lewella passed away after a brief illness. While at School, he was a Stubbs’ Shield boxer in the years 1960-1963 & also represented Sri Lanka Schools in boxing. He represented College in Cricket, Soccer & Hockey. After leaving Dharmaraja, he joined the Police Department as a Sub-Inspector where he took to boxing, cricket & rugby. Daya captained the Police Rugby Team in the year in 1974. He donned he national jersey against All-England in 1971. He was a member of the National Rugby side in the following year for the Asian Championships and toured Hon Kong in 1972. Daya W. was the regular choice as flanker in the Sri Lanka side during the period 1971- ’77.

College Kala Ullela which is usually a very colourful annual event will be held this year at the Auditorium on 15th Friday, Oct. commencing 2 P.M. The Chief Guest will be Mr.MohanSamaranayake. Dr. Praneeth Abhayasundera and Ms. Neela Wickramasinghe will be the Guests of Honour. Beisdes the College dancing and music troupes, dancing items wll be presented by Girls' High School, Risi Kala Easthetics College, Theldeniya Jatika Vidyalaya and Mahamaya College.

College cricket captain Sandun Weerakkody who is touring with the Sri Lnka Under 19 XI in Visakhapatnam has figured significantly in his Team's victory against West Indies. He has got the highest score for his side, 47 runs. He has done fairly ell in previous matches too.

August 13th, 2011 was a historic day for Rajans in North America. For the first time, Rajans, scattered around the North America, got-together in Washington DC for a day full of activities. Under the special project launched by the Colombo Branch to locate hitherto unlocated old Rajans, through this website, we have now reached the 350th new find. He is U.D. This is Junior Nationals Badminton Championship just concluded (29 09 2011) at St’ Thomas Mt Lavinia and the Under 19 category Champion is Pramod Hettiarachchi of Dharmaraja  who is the son of Janaka  Hettiarachchi the former secretary of OBU.

As part of the 125th anniversary celebrations of Dharmaraja College, an All Island Inter School Soccer Tournament is organized to be held on the 25th and 26th of September at the Bogambara Stadium. 32 teams from all over the country will participate. The Opening Ceremony will be held at 8 am. on th 25th.

Mr. Bandhula Gunawardane, Minister of Education will ceremonially open on 22nd September, 3 new buildings : Warden's Quarters,  renovated Sick Ward which were constructed by the Old Hostelers' Association and a new Visitors' Lodge for the sports section. This was a dire need of the College.

Mr.A.S.Ekanayake who was a wicket keeper batsman in the 80's passed away. He was an active member of the Dhamaraja Cricket Foundation. Remains are lying at No.4/3,Sri Sangamiththa Mawatha,Boowelikada ,Kandy. Funeral will take place at 4.00 pm on Wednesday 14th September 2011 at Mahaiyawa.

This year, we have scheduled OBU - Annual Trip on the dates- 14/15/16 th of October(Friday/Saturday/Sunday) and the destinations are- Kilinochchi, Puneryn, Mullaithivu, and Anuradhapura.(details will  be advised in due course). As usual our beloved friend Gen. Wanigasekera will lead the team with the support of Friends. Same as previous, participants are limited to 40 due to facilities issues and will fill the vacancies on first come first serve basis. Kindly advise S. B Herath early of yourself  and family participants (if any) so that we can program our  arrangements.
